I think there is a huge gap

In the middle that actually is up for the taking. I hope that at some point soon one of the parties will make a move to gain control of this segment. Like you, I’m not very optimistic.

I’ve said all along that I felt the progressive dems where conflating trump hate for support of their agenda. I’d like to think they will regroup and be more pragmatic but it won’t happen. They’ll blame Biden’s weakness, call trying to appeal to moderates a mistake, and double down on their ideas instead of re-evaluating the situation.

I fear republicans will see the massive turnout as justification of their trumpiness and also double down. I just don’t think trump-lite will be able to replicate what he did.

We’ll be left with two more terrible options that get enough lesser of two evils votes to think they are on the right path.
