So let's say that out of 100 African American voters, Hillary got 85/100 and Trump got 15/100 in 2016. Hillary netted 70 votes.

And let's say that Biden's got only 80/100 and Trump got 20/100. A definite improvement. Netting 60.

These numbers look feasible to me. You can substitute the actuals if you care to look it up. But those are really inmaterial, I think, to my point here.

What would matter even more than that 5% erosion is turnout. Here is where Stacy made the difference. I'll bet Joe got at least six figures in TOTAL African American voters more than Hillary and the spread in the total was also bigger than Hillary's (forgive the sequence of the words Hillary and spread, if you can). I think what Stacy brought was energy and belief in driving, not just African Americans in large numbers, but all Democrats across the board with her "We can do this approach," and her rigid backbone that we'll fight tooth and claw over any hint of voter suppression.

I don't think Georgia flips (if it does, which looks likely) without her strong 2018 campaign and her dogged insistence to include Georgia in the national Democratic conscience.
