watch but my #1 takeaway from the Trump Era is that half of our country is simply done with this whole Democracy thing. They want a ruler whom they identify with, and see everyone not from their "tribe" as the enemy. It's fascinating, but terrifying, especially when you get into the racial/ethnic/religious components of it. Look at history -- this is how authoritarian movements and genocides (create a "common enemy" and then focus on exterminating them as a means of bringing your base together) begin. Mix in the number of these people who see Democrats as evil Satan worshippers and believe the apocalypse is an inevitable milestone to their salvation and it starts to get really scary.

Can't happen here though, amirite?
