He's going to leave office with, at minimum, a severe business crisis and civil and criminal investigations in New York that will require what's left of his ability to pay attention to things. He's popular with the GOP now, but so was George W. Bush, and he's an unperson in the party now.

Trumpism, on the other hand, is here to stay. It's the perfect philosophy for the post-Obama GOP - incoherent in the best ways. It doesn't matter what you do policy-wise as long as you talk tough and own the libs. You don't have to actually do anything about immigration or working-class jobs or China. Just say you'll do all those things, campaign against the Squad, and the government is yours to slash and burn.
