Today marks the end of my 14 day pre-Thanksgiving quarantine. In a couple of hours I will drive about 1 to 1.5 hours down to my father’s on LI, where I am charged with making sure the old guy does’t spend Thanksgiving alone. Just him and me, which generally means I will be annoyed the entire time. I have to gird myself against that and give the old guy a pleasant day.

I’m very thankful for my old man’s health - I do love the old bird, but we don’t always get along too well, like in lots of families. So Thanksgiving this year really is an ordeal for me more than anything else. When I leave his place tonight, I will feel a burden lifted, I think.

And the best football game of the day has been cancelled to boot. I’m such a negative nelly.
