of course knew Flynn had lied to Pence about the Flynn/Kislyak conversation. Suppose the FBI had not found out that Flynn was lying? The Russians could have threatened Flynn with exposing his lie if he refused to do them favors. That’s classic blackmail. Perhaps they’d ask him to give them the identities of certain intelligence assets. Perhaps provide them with classified information. Perhaps pass false information to our administration. The potential for blackmail was all over the news at the time it became widely known that he lied. Now you may believe Flynn is an honorable man who would never do such things, but we’ve already established that he was willing to lie to Pence and “equivocate,” as you say, with the FBI to cover his ass, so that’s a bit of a stretch. Who knows what else was he willing to do? At the very least, he showed terrible judgement that, on its own, disqualified him for any post dealing with national security and classified information.
