And I do think you can say that the election of Trump in the first place was part of a movement, although I don’t know about “govt overreach” - that tends to be overplayed, especially by the right. They consider things they don’t like to be overreach, but Trump contacting private companies to tell them how to conduct themselves, or calling for boycotts of companies that employ 1000s of Americans over a grievance, isn’t? And that’s just two examples.

And this situation now is about nothing but refusal to accept the results of an election which they don’t like. It’s whiny, snowflakey, cry baby-like, all that, and it is an attempt at a coup. Full stop, this is a coup we are witnessing. Who woulda thunk in this country? Every last one of those “storming the Bastille” should be arrested. None of us should lend it any credence, any air of legitimacy, by thinking of it as a legit “movement”. Trumpism may have come from that at a point in time, but we are well past that now.

Now, we have a pres and too many members of his party attempting a coup and inciting mobs to riot. It is nothing more than that, and it is literally one of the worst blotches on our democracy in its history.
