Because their districts went so heavily for Trump. I happened to catch this Firing Line episode this weekend - repub rep Mike Gallagher was the guest. He objected strongly to the phony election objections, and admitted that many of his repub colleagues admitted to him that their objections were to non-existent election problems and what they were doing was damaging, but they felt they had no choice if they wanted to keep their jobs.

Making Cruz and Hawley the worst of the worst, because they are merely exploiting a terrible situation to advance themselves, not acting out of a wimpy desire to cling to a job and small modicum of power. Doesn’t excuse all these other objectors, but IMO Hawley and Cruz are the most egregious offenders.

I don’t know if there are examples of more blatantly unpatriotic actions by sitting senators in our nation’s history.
