...This is way too complicated of a topic for this board, but I'll respond briefly, as follows:

-- While we have a so-called capitalist economy, government interference is rampant. In case you haven't noticed, businesses have been closed, restricted, bankrupted and otherwise interfered with by government at all levels for the last 10 months with absolutely no legal authority supporting such interference in most cases. That point doesn't even get into the normal regulation of business across all industries all the time. To say tech monopolies can't be regulated like every other business is ridiculous. On top of that, rightly or wrongly, we have antitrust laws in this country, and these tech giants have clearly violated these laws. You can argue that these laws are wrong, but you can't argue that they don't exist to that's it's unfair to enforce them.

-- I wasn't even referring in my comments to divestiture from these companies, but since you seem so outraged by it, take a look at all the similar moves by CALPERS, for example, not to mention university endowments, to see that selective investment for non-economic reasons is done all the time by these large institutional funds. That doesn't make it right, but don't pretend that FL would be somehow out of bounds doing it, as this is accepted practice. Also, was DeSantis interfering with his fund managers, or was someone recommending that he do so? I thought it was the latter.

-- My comment was related more to state governments beginning to restrict the ability of predatory tech giants from doing business in states unless and until they change their business practices. You might say this is governement interference -- and it is -- but it's no different than states like California mandating pollution controls on businesses operating there, taxing certain policitally favored/disfavored businesses differently than other businesses, etc. Any such measures would undoubtedly end up in court, but it's coming one way or the other.

I'm not in favor of any of this shit, by the way, but it's the world we live in with rules made largely by the left, so it's fair for the right to play by those same rules now, isn't it?
