A split of the party would be my guess, too. Nothing can change the fact
that Trumpists are a minority, sizeable but a minority. They are the white resentment backlash. As long as there are democratic elections they will continue to lose power, which is why they're going to do everything they can to fight democratic elections. Despite the fact that Biden didn't do as well down ballot as I would have liked (the House and state legislatures) it is still quite remarkable what has happened since 2018; Trumpists lost the House, Senate and White House. Georgia and Arizona are particularly remarkable; since 2018 all four senate seats turned blue, they both carried Biden, 5 of the 9 congressional seats in Arizona are Democrats and 6 of 14 in Georgia! Can their GOP governors be far behind on the casualty list? I don't think so particularly since the reaction of the state GOP, particularly in Arizona has been to alienate moderate Republicans even further.
It is inexorable, which is of course why Trumpists are losing their shit and willing to engage in insurrection. Weird, too, because as we know, the Democrats have the capacity to be their own worst enemy and can easily screw up their momentum.
