clearly is not. Not to mention, just a plain language reading of the impeachment provision is all it takes to see that removal from office is not the only consequence of conviction. Disqualification from holding office again and losing privileges afforded to ex Presidents is also part of the deal. Which means there isn't even a principled argument that impeachment is moot or legally barred just because someone leaves office; in fact that would be complete and utter nonsense given that a president or any other federal official facing impeachment could simply resign and then run for office again or seek re-appointment later. You are full of shit here, and I suspect you know that. Perhaps some of the right wingers on the SCOTUS would be willing to make up some absurd reason as to why you "can't" impeach someone who has resigned or left office, but until that happens it is very much an option and I would even bet folks like Roberts and even Kavanaugh would want no part of saying otherwise.

If disingenuous senators who care more about Trumpanzees voting for them when they are up for re-election than they do justice want to take the position that their "no" votes are because they don't think it's appropriate to impeach someone after leaving office, they are of course free to do so. But that is in no way a legal precedent or even rationale. Impeachment is political as we saw the last time around. They could refuse to convict Trump if he was caught red handed insider trading while raping Lady Liberty and emailing the nuclear codes to Vladimir Putin if they want to. And I'm sure some of them would.
