Important components of Parler were built on a WordPress background. While that is not in and of itself insecure, it does mean there's a very widespread knowledge about how it was put together. And they also failed to secure some administrator accounts. Hackers were able to compromise one of those accounts, and from there it was open season.

Once AWS took them offline, they were just gone.
