It is striking, to me, that the republican policy makers have completely

Abdicated any semblance of responsible governance. It’s like their governing philosophy is simply to pander and piss off liberals rather than responsibly govern and, in this case, save lives.

Greg Abbott blamed the green new deal - which isn’t a thing that, you know, exists - for the power grid failure. Worse, Republicans have had complete control of the state since 2002. How he can can blame AOC and her ilk with a straight face is pretty striking for the sheer mendacity for something that is so easily checked.

Ted Cruz had second thoughts about bailing on his constituents when he got caught bailing on his constituents. “Because I’m a responsible dad I just HAD to go to Cancun to take care of my daughters.” John Cornyn is MIA.

These guys don’t care about governing. The political posturing has become an end unto itself. The republican statesman today is
A) a supporter of trump
B) trolls liberal on Twitter

Everything else is superfluous.

AOC is a congresswoman from ducking NYC and Beto is, AFAIK, a private citizen( I don’t even think he has a job. Both are doing more for Texans than their sitting senators and the governor.
