think may have happened -- especially when seeing charges this serious. Why post like this just guessing -- unless you are trying to suggest you really think that all that probably happened is he "yelled at them and made them run a few laps after practice".

The heart of the charges include allegations that he was incredibly abusive both physically and emotionally and would then often send gymnasts to a back room (all at his personal training facility) to the wonderful Larry Nassar for treatment. It is alleged by many that he knew exactly what was going on in his back room.

We should never presume guilt, but he was also being accused of having lied in many other aspects regarding all of the surrounding investigations -- so it is not a stretch to think that he knew exactly what he was doing with his friend Nassar in his own gym. So no, he isn't being accused of just being a "tough coach".

I do agree that at least some parents should have been more involved at earlier stages with certain aspects of this situation. It is horrifying, but I can understand parents really not knowing what may have been going on in the back room with Nassar (although I agree that more should have been asking more questions for a long time. I would never allow anybody to treat my children without knowing exactly what they were really doing). But some parents should have taken note of abusive coaching which was not in a "back room" and stood up against that for the sake of their children. However, that shouldn't minimize the actions themselves.
