None of those other events save the Civil War resulted in anything remotely
Close to the assault on the certification of the presidential election on Jan 6. I recognize that the cult can’t see that as anything more than trespassing, but the rest of the country sees it for what it was - an unprecedented assault on our democracy from within.
The Civil War was a greater threat, but I don’t think any of those other examples you cite placed the kind of strain on our democracy that we’re now under. As you guys love to constantly point out - some likely large subset of the 74 mil who voted for Trump do not accept the accuracy of the vote (and just stop before throwing out the doubts dems had in 2016 - I get them, and never personally shared them, but nobody assaulted Congress over it and virtually nobody doubted the veracity of our actual voting processes. Once we lose faith in them, the country is on life support at best).
So, yeah, I think since the earliest days following the Revolution, only the Civil War likely amounts to a challenge to our democracy greater than the one we’re in.
If we are to be defeated as a country, it will be from within.
