"The science" is conflicted. As much as they want to induce panic to trigger more aggressive public policy responses, they've yet to figure out a way to communicate to the general public that vaccines are great (but not so great that they keep anyone safe from being infected or infecting their unvaccinated kids) in such a way that doesn't induce panic or significantly erode confidence in the vaccines.
