On 1/6/21 at 5:01 PM Chuck Grassley tweeted this:
“Today’s violent attack on the U.S. Capitol was an attack on American democracy itself. I condemn today’s violence in the strongest terms & perpetrators deserve to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

On 1/7/21 Grassley issued this statement:
“Everyone must take responsibility for their destructive actions yesterday, including the president. As the leader of the nation, the president bears some responsibility for the actions that he inspires — good or bad. Sadly, yesterday he displayed poor leadership in his words and actions, and he must take responsibility.”

On 10/9/21 at a Des Moines rally with Trump, after receiving Trump’s endorsement Grassley said this:
“I was born at night, but not last night, so if I didn’t accept the endorsement of a person that’s got 91% of the Republican voters in Iowa, I wouldn’t be too smart. I’m smart enough to accept that endorsement."
