they had to get before going over. The drill was a gauntlet of six Navy corpsmen, three on each side, giving vaccination of various sorts. They didn't bother telling the men what they were and they sure as hell didn't ask them whether they wanted them.

Probably not the best approach from a medical standpoint; afterwards there were always several guys in sick bay for a few days. But other than the standard griping, the guys did it because they were ordered to. Frankly, the resistance in the current military is just astounding and unacceptable.
