don't know how much weight I place on the GOP winning the governorship in Virginia. It could be a warning signal, but there is also a tendency to hand-wring too much. (See California governor recall.) Virginia is back and forth but, lest we forget, has carried the Democratic presidential nominee four times in a row.

I think what concerns me the most is Democratic dithering. The Ds were elected to actually do something on infrastructure (amongst other things) and they're allowing GOP obstruction to block that agenda. It sucks the energy out of Democratic voters, particularly in an off year.
