Anyone reading it without thinking carefully might come away thinking that their own life expectancy has been shortened by COVID, but that's not the case. A child born today or a 50-year-old today has the same life expectancy that they did two years ago.

This fake life expectancy stat presumes that the deaths caused by 1) COVID, 2) medical mistakes/malpractice around COVID and 3) government policy mistakes/malfeasance around COVID that, combined, led to an outsized number of deaths over a nine-month period will continue forever. There's no reason to expect that. It was a one-year blip that mostly affected a certain subset of the population (the old and sick).

Misleading statistics like this one have been a hallmark of the COVID fear porn we've seen throughout the media over the past 18 months.
