Is this really a "free speech" issue? Does a teacher have the right to

call the principal or superintendent an asshole under free speech protections? Certainly freedom of speech would protect the teacher from being prosecuted by the government for calling the principal and asshole, but it wouldn't protect them from being fired. The teacher's union might do that, but that's a separate issue.

My guess is they decided it would be cheaper / easier to reinstate the asshole than to fight him court.
