It's a relevant topic for sure. There are many, myself included, right now
trying to figure out what COLA type salary increases can be given that are fair to meet the inflation our people are facing without pricing our product to a point where it will no longer be purchased.
it's not fun trying to estimate where it will settle, etc, it's a tightrope. I'm not trying to point at one party or the other as the cause, rather i'm just discussing the actual inflation itself
the tuna example is a very limited anecdote, obviously, but on a micro level it has been priced out of a consumer's tolerance range. if that happens on a macro level there may be a lot of people in that industry suddenly in trouble.
you see it all around. there's one restaurant near my house that was hugely popular. they felt the need to raise prices considerably recently and it's a ghost town now as a result. The prices don't bother me, but going in there and being the only people in the restaurant does. i'm sure it will go under soon
