We don’t have to go out of our way with expressions of sympathy for

Everyone who dies of course. If a drunk driver dies in a wreck, I am probably not going out of my way to post a Colin Powell or John Madden-type expression of sadness, sympathy, and admiration.

At the same time, there is no more precious thing than a human life IMO. It does not do any good for anyone to say things that might look like celebrations of deaths like that, and while I don’t have to overtly express sympathy, I don’t need to overtly express my lack of it either. We don’t know these people or their motivations, and their mistakes don’t change the value of their lives. Not IMO.

I can tell you that I am still breathing today because I got away with some very poor judgement in my time. Luck of the draw.
