the colonial era, the creation of the Constitution, the early 1800's and the development of King Cotton, the growth of sectionalism and the specifics of the 1860 election, the secession crisis, reconstruction, Plessey v. Ferguson, the school desegregation process and Brown v Board of Education, and finally the burgeoning civil rights movement culminating in the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, without running afoul of parents looking for violation of the new statutes in multiple states purporting to define, and then banning, something called "Critical Race Theory."

Maybe, in the general US History course we had in Virginia when I was a lad in 10th grade IIRC, you could skate with generic BS. But how are you going to teach AP (or Honors, whatever it's called) US History without mentioning white racism?
