I remember when 1,000 people a day dying in the US shocked us. Now we're

at close to 1,500 a day and you're talking like this is the flu. A month of that and we have a bad flu year, in spite of vaccinations and social distancing.

If 95% of cases in the US really are Omicron then this doesn't seem much better than Delta or Alpha. Today we are at about half the death rate of a year ago and double the infection rate but we're 62% or so vaccinated. if I had to guess I would say that the 38% unvaccinated are 80 to 90% of the deaths, meaning the death rate of unvaccinated people against Omicron is not very different than the death rate of Alpha or Delta. The death rate today is half of last year because of vaccination, not because Omicron is the flu.
