...I would never say someone hates America just because they don't agree with tax cuts. I think most Dems are good people -- most of my friends are Dems.

But I do think a substantial number of leftists in leadership positions in the Dem party and the commanding heights of our country (e.g., media, entertainment, academia, etc.) are ambivalent at best America, if not ashamed of it, and that affect discourse and policy. They won't admit it, of course, but you don't run on "fundamentally transforming" a country that you love.

Back to America First -- yes, it is mostly a traditional Republican agenda, including lower taxes, energy independence, less regulation, Constitutionalist judges and patriotism. But it tweaks the platform in the following way:
-- drain the swamp
-- protect the borders
-- reduction in how much we yield to international institutions
-- recognition of the fake news media as simply an illegitimate propaganda arm of the state (and primarily Dem party)
-- pausing and reversing the outsourcing of our industry, particularly to adversarial communist countries
-- avoiding endless, useless, needless wars
