Always a stopgap candidate


More than half the country just really hated the Trump choice and the Dems needed a moderate to unite the party and many Independents. He did that. Thanks God he did. But he is on the downside of his effectiveness as a leader and politician. Never a great candidate but not a narcissist who has zero respect for law, so an upgrade.
