disingenuously characterized it is not an "embassy evacuation." He is having some staff and family members leave the country but the embassy is still open, of course. He is putting 8500 US troops on high alert and moving ships into position. I can only imagine what the response would if he did nothing, but for the GOP and people like Hooda who carry water for them, it doesn't matter what the President does! Any move he makes or fails to make will be equally wrong and met with equal contempt. Not to mention, of course, the complaints about dozens, perhaps millions, of Americans being left in the lurch.

We just had a long thread about this yesterday; "what should the US do." This doesn't seem like a weak response. Though I sure as hell don't want the US to fight a war in the Ukraine. But it is a response, it is in coordination with the EU and NATO, and channels of communication remain open.
