There was a time when politics were largely set aside in

Nominating SC justices. Not that long ago. Breyer himself was confirmed nearly unanimously.

Both parties have a hand in the deterioration of that lost bit of dignity in our country, but the repubs blew the doors off it in two ways - denying Obama his elected office’s right and responsibility to replace a justice for a full quarter of his 2nd term - that was reprehensible. Then they replaced RBG literally on the eve of Election Day 2020, in yet another never-done-before assault on the once dignified process. That was even more reprehensible.

I know there’s a whole plethora of whattabouts, like the Kavanaugh circus (I agreed then and still do that the dems made a circus of that), but given the epic hypocrisy of 2016 vs 2020 for the repubs, no repub is any position to expect any particular outcome now. Nobody could blame the dems for going as far left as their own caucus allows (which is not a match for my political ideology, but that’s the SC nominating process the repubs have now given us, much more than the dems have).
