The corporate wing is now heavily invested in the social issues

domain siding with the left (well further left than the dead average center) while staying right economically- particularly Tech, Wall St., Entertainment/Arts. This tension has been obvious to me starting around 2014 or so, really came to the forefront in the 2016 election w/ Trump and Bernie, and has become the biggest point of conflict that's continuing to spiral imo. The mean American voter is left leaning economically, moderate socially (many D constituencies are much more conservative on flashpoint social issues than commonly recognized.) Things are really breaking down along status/class/education lines, where you see left wing and right wing hipsters aligned with the 'working Joe' stereotype, CEOs of the most influential companies aligning with vanguard social values. It's a dense, confusing stew of emotions, allegiances and alliances turnt to 11 with most people either not fully aware of it and/or stuck somewhere in the middle. Then you add the volatility of Trump pounding the RW populism, and no clear D heavyweights, global conflict and fracturing, crazy info zone, it's highly combustible.
