inherent danger of escalating the conflict. However, I don't think the other option of not supporting Ukraine is necessarily the "safer" alternative either. As if we don't support Ukraine, even with Russia's bumbling military tactic, they likely to eventually grind down Ukraine and it provides a guideline for China to act on Taiwan, South China Sea, etc. Which would probably lead to a more dangerous potential confrontation. I do feel like US/NATO is making the support too overt and seemly like kicking Russia when its showing weakness. Russia's nuclear escalation talk seems to be more on the bluff side now, but it might be more real if they/Putin feel like they are humiliated with nothing to lose.
