at least in the near term. The main consequence of this crisis as it pertains to energy is that now countries are striving for energy security. This will mean unshuttering coal and nuclear facilities, greenlighting regassification projects, de-regulating fossil fuel production, etc- none of which are popular among environmentalists and most of which are not helpful to the environment (nuclear excluded).

The energy transition is just too far away to solve the near term cirisis with renewables, so the impact of the war is that some of the progress made over the last several years will be reversed. Most damaging being coal for gas substitution in Europe.
