I suspect he thinks he cost lives, or he wouldn’t have covered up
The number of deaths in nursing homes during that critical period. That’s the thing about his attempted comeback that pisses me off the most. He claims exoneration from accusations of inappropriate conduct with women because he was not charged with anything, when in fact the cover up of nursing home stats early in the pandemic might be his most egregious sin.
I blame him for the cover-up, not the initial decision to move patients to nursing homes in the first place. No place in the country was hit harder before we knew thing one about the virus than NY (especially NYC) in early 2020. I don’t really judge mistakes made during that period of groping in the dark too harshly. But somebody does, and his name is Andrew Cuomo, as evidenced by his (perhaps illegal) dishonesty months after the fact.
I don’t think Cuomo exhibited true leadership. I think he has a performance style, and it was a great match for the moment during that period of his daily pressers. His performance art was a wonderful respite from Trump’s during that same time, because Trump’s performance style is pure pep rally and a terrible match for that moment. Cuomo’s was a better match, but it was still just performance art.
