In terms of total GDP

VA's peers would be OR, TN, LA, KY, MO. Nova (Fairfax + Arlington + Alexandria + Loudoun + PW) accounted for over 40% of the Commonwealth's GDP in 2020, according to the BEA tables (presented in chained 2012 $). GDP per capita drops 20% when excluding those areas - a lot of production.

Those same counties account for just over 25% of the state's population.

And someone may want to check my work - basically just eyeballed the tables and I'm on a shaky train... LOL
