Sure, of course they illegally abuse their power for a money grab, which is

part of why I said we can't say for sure it's racism.

Wouldn't surprise me if they stop college kids of all races in sedans and SUVs driving back from spring break and illegally search their cars for drugs to bring more revenue to the county.

But that doesn't by itself rule out racism here - it's not mutually exclusive. The cops surely couldn't tell who was on the bus when they pulled it over, which they certainly could have done for $$ reasons.

But once they saw who was on the bus they had a choice on how to proceed. Would they have lectured a bus of little old white ladies on a trip to a casino that if they had anything that could even look like something that could possibly, maybe be used to weigh drugs, there'd be nothing the cops could do to help them, they'd be going to jail - and then search all their belongings?

Would they have done the same thing to a group of white high school girls on their way back from a cheer competition, or would they have not wanted to risk those girls having a drug bust on their record that would keep them from getting into college?

Maybe - maybe the cops would have treated any group the exact same way, which again makes it at best an illegal abuse of power and why I'm not insisting that it is for sure racism. But it also seems extremely naïve (or at least having a blind eye to reality in this country) to say that racism is definitely not a factor because it's just a money grab.
