From personal experience. But I read through that post article, and it struck me as little more than a cherry picked assortment of yelp reviews. In my experience, you can make any experience look like anything you’d like via that method.

So I googled. First thing that struck me - the rw echo chamber is really committed to aggravating cultural divisions. I found a whole bunch of articles in Twitchy, Newsmax, and the like, all basically doing the same thing as the Post. My favorite was one from June on the Heritage site - it claims that Madison’s legacy is about to be ERASED! Even if everything these articles say is dead on, a house tour does not erase such a legacy. I recently read a book written in late 2020 which was all about the legacy of our first 4 presidents. That article also credited Madison with “writing the Federalist Papers”. I think Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Jay might have some comments on that part of his legacy. Or maybe just about Heritage’s legacy - they seem a little fuzzy on the nation’s true heritage.

So I went to the horse’s mouth. Yelp. Found some complaints, including one about overemphasis on race, and more about Covid conditions, but also a whole bunch of extreme positives.

I wonder JM - if MSNBC posted only about 10 or 15 extremely positive reviews it cherry picked and claimed Montpelier is the worlds greatest house tour with no mention at all of race and slavery, how would you react to that? I’m guessing you’d mostly return a negative yelp review of MSNBC.

I don’t think we’d be so divided as a society if we armchair politicos refused to amplify unbalanced messages designed only to aggravate our divisions.
