Without the catastrophe of Trump's tenure, I don't think a Biden presidency
would have happened. I think that election came down to the visceral feeling among a majority of voters that a second Trump term would have endangered, if not ended democracy as we know it. Events over the last year or so tend to bear that out. So, most of those that voted for Biden were voting for or against essentially 2 things, (1) for Biden as embodying the spirit of democracy (2) against Trump and Trumpism. However, I think the stronger motivation was to make sure that Trump did not get a second bite of the democratic apple. Biden was nominated, after appearing dead in the water early on in the nomination process and then went on to a decisive victory in the general election. Biden, warts and all, was the beneficiary of the circumstances of the time, probably more so than any presidential candidate that I can remember.
When I see these posts by JMHoo and company about Biden, I am reminded of the election of 2020 and how the American people made the right decision for the right reasons, in spite of all of the misinformation during the election and criminal activity after it.
