WSJ: Flood insurance has been on the decline in FL in some

Of the areas most deeply effected by Ian. I think this is going to be a political hot button in the coming weeks, and it will be interesting to see how Governor DeSantis navigates that. I saw Rick Scott on one of the Sunday shows, and he basically dodged it completely when asked.

As a congressman DeSantis stood firmly opposed to Sandy relief efforts. His quote - I think all those with flood insurance should have their claims paid, and those who didn’t, sorry, I feel for ya, but your choices have consequences.

I do think Ron has been solid through this crisis. He’s working well with the feds by all accounts, and keeping FL residents at the top of his rhetoric. All good. But what’s he going to say if and when some dems in Congress inevitably call him out on this and balk at relief?

I hope dems point out the violations of the Golden Rule if and when DeSantis has any complaints with those who do exactly what he did when in Congress, but then put politics aside and Floridians front and center. They shouldn’t pay for political opposition to their governor, or for the governor’s past sins.

But perhaps in the future Congressman will consider relief measures as though it is their own constituents suffering, even when it isn’t.
