Since you don’t read English, let me translate that for you. There is a question on the state registration form that asked for country of birth. Not where you’re a citizen of, where you were born. There is a concern that naturalized citizens born in another country would trigger inappropriate investigations if they check that box. And why is that a concern? The only people not originally citizens of this country applying to vote in this country are people who are eligible to vote, which requires being a citizen, born or naturalized.

I don’t know what Marc Elias was cheering for other than perhaps there is a significant number of people who would have been at least inconvenienced by answering that question, I don’t even know if he actually said that. Of course, I’m not quite sure who he is.
