Swim RVa has had a program in effect for some years to teach all metro Richmond second graders to swim. Henrico may separate off now with their two new pools. Charleston SC continues to hold a fundraiser called the Low Country Splash open water swim to raise funds for their program to teach the low country 2nd graders to swim. I have heard Hampton will start a similar program at their new indoor facility. Newport News might have had a program at the Brittingham pool but I was told they were unable to continue due to coordination failures…really? Sigh…
