The wall and immigration laws/regulations are orthogonal to each other

There is no way to effectively enforce the laws without pushing more and more transactions into the black market. Take, for example, someone here on a temporary visa that prohibits employment. Do you really think those people are not going to work if they can? Of course they are going to work. They just take black market jobs (and pay no taxes on those earnings). It is illegal in the way driving 60 in a 55 is illegal. There is no benefit to society to aggressively enforcing those laws. While some of that money is undoubtedly wired back home, a lot of it gets spent.
