Yeah I don't see how this helps the "CNN is fake news" narrative.


The incorrect story helps that narrative, but CNN immediately firing the three journalists who were responsible shows that it is unacceptable to them for this kind of thing to happen, and that they will hold people accountable who write incorrect stories.

It seems like CNN is a network who actually cares about having an honest product, and their actions will incentivize verified reporting rather than chasing questionable leads.
