As definitively as I see the combined impact of Trump's 3 statements as having been an unprecedented (post WWII) and morally repugnant equivocation in condemning the racism and bigotry at the heart of the protests, Trump's supporters draw a 180 degree opposite conclusion.

And I'm not just talking to idiots. Including several Jews who have no problem with Trump's near-admiration for the Friday marchers and all those decent, peaceful people. Decent, peaceful people patterning a protest after nazi marches in the 1930s. And according even to some witnesses on this board, and the University, not exactly peaceful.

I do not get that. How can anyone see it that way? Anyone at all, much less Jews with even a casual understanding of the lead up to Hitler's "Final Solution"?

American politics right now is "I say tomato and you say tomAto". People seeing the same exact thing and coming away with polar opposite conclusions based on their perspectives.

Somewhat fascinating if it weren't so disturbing. Trump's supporters are closing ranks around him IMO. That may be as much as 35% of the country.
