I'd guess less than 10 feet and closing. I would argue that a person with a knife moving towards someone who is armed with a gun and constantly telling that person to stop is intent on doing harm and, thus, presents an "imminent threat".

In cases like Philando Castile or Terence Crutcher, I think there was no justification for the use of force and the officers involved should have been prosecuted and certainly should never be allowed to work as armed police or security officers again.

In the case at Georgia Tech, though, it is really difficult for me to say that individual did not present an imminent threat.
