True of all sports. Kaepernick paid a price for his activism though.
He is the perfect profile for a backup QB - one time successful starter with big game experience, who is still young and who's stats compared pretty favorably with other back ups. He would have gotten a look with at least one team, and probably way more than that, if not for his political pivot. But he comes with too much baggage for a back up.
Which I don't really have a problem with - it is a business. All businesses will put up with more baggage from top performers who help them make money - not just sports. As you slip more towards mediocre they tolerate baggage less and less.
It was basically no longer an issue - probably in part because of Kaepernick's experience. Trump brought the subject back up and elevated it to levels it had never reached before.
Which was exactly his intent IMO.
