Response was still VERY slow. We saw it coming well in

advance and knew Puerto Rico was going to take a direct hit from a category 5 hurricane for the first time in almost 90 years (Okeechobee, 1928). It certainly called for heavy, HEAVY immediate support from the U.S. military, but it was only just a few days ago that General Buchannan was finally put in charge and the Jones Act was temporarily suspended, a solid WEEK after Maria devastated Puerto Rico. 30K troops were sent to Florida for Irma, 40K to Texas for Harvey, to augment the tremendous resources those states have of their own. Puerto Rico doesn't have those kinds of resources and poses MUCH more difficult logistical problems. Some estimate 50K troops will be needed in Puerto Rico and there are still only 10K. I love how Brock Long has been performing, but he needed/needs MUCH more help for Puerto Rico.
