Calling him racist based on that press conference, however...

Way to take this beyond political jostling over message & straight into the gutter. If I was to be won over by Wilson's argument, that there was more to her objections than cynical gotcha politics, that ended today w/ her accusation.

For others in the media, the presser was just another example of Kelly's latent racism. The real smoking gun was that he grew up in Boston. Because, of course, if you're white and from Boston, you're basically in the clan. If you're Irish too? Stand back.

I've said before, Trump has a child's ability to articulate a thought. I find it far more likely that Trump butchered the line he was given to console the widow than I do that he took the time to call, and insult a widow gratuitously. True to form, Trump fell flat on his face responding to an unseemly political attack by Wilson when he lashed out in all directions.

And the real tragedy of this is that the family of a fallen soldier has to have this disgusting, puerile spat dominating national headlines for weeks. One would like to think adults could recognize that, and pick any other of a myriad of political fights.
