I don't mean the number of guns. There are high ownership rates in other countries with a tiny fraction of our gun violence. My father-in-law has several rifles (that must be kept locked up) for hunting and to protect the animals on his hobby farm.

But no place else, with perhaps a few exceptions in war-ravaged 3rd-world countries, are Rambo-style military caches glorified as in the USA.

While as a student of our Founding Fathers, I am usually reluctant to say how they might view modern issues so removed from their reality, I have little doubt they would view the gun protection racket as a descent into lunacy.
