The best, basic argument seems to be that Israel is a real country and thei
their capital is Jerusalem. Our embassy should be in the capital of the country and this is their capital.
I believe Israel is the only country in the world where we have an embassy but it is not in their capital.
Clearly there are some very good reasons why moving in there might not be the best, but a very basic argument can be made that we just put our embassy in the capital.
If there ever is a Palestinian state and it has east Jerusalem as its capital, we could have an embassy there as well - this doesn't seem to prohibit that.
