Trump was on the hook to them for over $600m. He refused to pay, they sued him, and he counter sued them in 2008 claiming since they were one of the banks responsible for the financial collapse, not only did he not owe them the money but they owed HIM $3b in damages. He loses that case and is ordered to pay the debt.

So Deutsche Bank then lends him the money to pay this debt from another department within their own organization?? Now he's back on the hook for $300+m that comes due in 2023 or 2024?

If anyone here has followed this, how am I doing on facts?

And this is the same bank that was not too long ago fined like $600m because they were caught laundering $10b of...you guessed it...Russian money?

Why in the world would the bank loan him this money on the heels of him suing them to get out of paying the first loan? Why are they the only financial institution in the world willing to give him credit on that level? Maybe they figured he'd just declare bankruptcy again and stiff them like he's known to do? So this gives them a chance to at least to get some of the money back?

Or is it possible that somebody else is underwriting the loan for Deutsche Bank? I don't know anything about this world so maybe someone on the board can help me. Are these circumstances, if accurate, normal? Are there red flags on the face of it or is this just a nothing burger?
